Part 1. Race of Cranks on Bikes
The festival, besides the performances, workshops, round tables will hold on Sept. 27 performance-action “Cranks on Bikes”, which will be attended by guests of the festival and volunteers.
Why cycling? Bicycle is the most democratic and popular vehicle among youth and students, who are the target audience of the Teatralny Koufar Festival. This is also a great tool to introduce guests of the festival with our wonderful capital city of Minsk.
The race starts from Minsk-Arena at 15.30 and goes along Minsk streets on bicycle lanes with stops for the guided tours, promotions and photography!
Part 2. Cranks-BOOM
Meanwhile at 5 pm at the main entrance of the Trade Unions’ Palace (25, Nezaliezhnasti Ave.) the Festival will unfold musical and plastic performance - action "Cranks-BOOM" with the participation of "GRIG - PERCUSSIONS" Band, culminating in a cheerful meeting of cycling cranks and finally ... opening ceremony of the festival at 5:30 pm!

VII. International Student Theatre Festival

PRESS RELEASE
From September 27 to October 2, 2010, the Belarusian State University in Minsk will hold the VII International University Theatre Festival “Teatralny Koufar - 2010’ with the motto “Traditions. Quest. Experiment”. Press – conference will be held on September 27th in the administrative building of the Belarusian State University (Bobruiskaya street, 5-a). It starts at 10 a.m.
The organizers of the event - Department of Culture Affairs of the BSU – for the seventh time will host the guests from Russia, Great Britain, Belgium, Latvia, Serbia, Iran, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Italy, Switzerland, Ukraine, Portugal. This year “Teatralny Koufar” will gather about 200 participants.
Traditionally, the competitive programme will be evaluated by independent jury consisting of famous theatre workers from Belarus, Jordan, Korea, the USA, Great Britain, France, Iran and Spain. The Festival Grand-Prix is the Audience’s Prize, awarded by the results of the Festival spectators’ preferential voting.
Besides the competitive programme, the key-projects of the festival “MonoK” and “Koufar-to-Stage” keep the conception of the festival programme. This year “MonoK” is staging the play from Bosnia and Herzegovina “Artaud LUDA” determined in the genre of “mono-choreo-drama”. The project «Koufar-to-Stage» is presenting the first night of “The Women of Bergman” by Latvian Valka town theatre. This performance is a creative cooperation of Belarusian dramatist Nikolai Rudkovsky and the theatre director Ivars Ikshelis.
The coordinator of the project «Koufar-in-Motion» - a British director Edward Lewis - during the festival week is going to do an original theatrical work to be performed on the Closing ceremony of “Teatralny Koufar – 2010” on Sat., October 2nd. By the way, working with actors is based on Augusto Boal’s methods advocated by his apprentice E. Lewis.
For the first time young critics of leading theatrical universities from Minsk, Moscow, Saint-Petersburg can meet within the Festival Club to have round-table discussions in friendly air about the performances, competitive programme days with all the participants of the theatrical forum.
